The tenth gold coin in the Queen's Beasts series.
The Royal Mint of Great Britain has unveiled a new series of gold coins, Queen's Beasts, inspired by heraldic motifs from ancient times to the present day. At the coronation of Her Majesty the Queen, ten heraldic animals stood guard. The heraldic creatures symbolized the various threads of royal lineage woven together in the young woman who was to become queen. Each proud animal, used as a heraldic symbol by generations before her, was inspired by King Henry VIII, and the beasts still stand along the bridge over the moat at Hampton Court Palace.
The reverse of this coin was designed by Jody Clark and features a White Greyhound holding a shield.
